Ignoring Best Practices
A well-designed roundabout should align with established best practices to ensure it meets the community’s needs effectively and safely. Unfortunately, the current proposal ignores key guidelines set forth by TDOT, FHWA, and other authorities. By applying a one-size-fits-all approach to each entry, the design disregards context-sensitive solutions and unnecessary right-of-way acquisitions. From Countryside Drive to Anderson Lane, the same wide approach is used, even where it’s clearly not needed. In this section, we’ll examine specific best practices that were overlooked and question whether the community’s interests were genuinely considered.
